Large Red Damselflies at Speculation

I went with my two offspring to a Indian restaurant. It was quite nice. Both were locked into the meat dishes, and I was a vegetarian, so I found the vegetarian balti, it was up to standard.

Wren (chick) at Lydney Recreation Ground and Park

This is one of the Wrens chicks, from where I was, it looked like a family of five, busily taking its food from their parents.

Common Blue butterfly at the Marches, Lydney

It is a guessing game. What sort of weather is it? It’s raining, well wouldn’t you believe it. Back to the archives again, not that it matters. I shot that picture yesterday, so it didn’t really stay in the archives.

Little Egret on the Marshes, Lydney

It was nice to see the Little Egret on the Marshes. It is not a brilliant picture, but I had to show it. It comes here when the River Severn gets so high, sometimes it frequents one or two of the lakes on Harbour Road.

Plants of the forest

It was a very, very, very poor day. It didn't stop raining. So, I will let you see my photographs from a few days back.
These are plants I had seen in my travels, I don't know what they are called, maybe there is somebody who will tell me.

Pied Wagtail at Speech House Woodlands

They get up here, not just the town. They are everywhere. Tails bobbing, on getting some food. Which, it is obviously they are after. They are cute!

Mute Swan nesting at Cannop Ponds

The Male is not nice, he has killed lots of wildfowl. I have counted 12. This Swan is sitting on 2 eggs, which when or if, they will not be quite a nasty as their father.

Speckled Yellow Moth taken between New Fancy and The Dilke

It's not very often than I show a Moth, but, here is one. Among the rest was a Cuckoo or two, (audio), I sat there waiting for it, but it wouldn't come. There was a fleeting by of one of them.

Large White butterfly at Cannop Ponds

It rained for half of the day, but I took some time and went to Cannop Ponds. At first it was rainy, but the afternoon was better, although it was cloudy. There, that was weather forecast. I took a lot of photographs of a Jay, who did what I was waiting for. A full sized picture. I might show it to you, if you really care....................................

Raven at Speech House Woodlands

It was time to add a Raven to gallery, unfortunately it is a bad picture. But, it's my first. I also saw a Goshawk, but before I could not get the apparatus ready to take a picture, it saw me.

Bumble Bee feeding on the Petty Whin (At Wenchford)

I travelled out in the forest, there was hardly no people. 3 hours had gone by without any people. The Buzzards were flying around, Chiffchaffs were singing and the Whitethroats were at it. The day was a beautiful sight.

Peacock photographed at Farmers Green, Parkend

At Farmers Green it was a noisy affair, birds were twittering away, but it was impossible to check them out, apart those that were always there. Still, we will endeavour.

Oak at Nagshead nature reserve

Yesterday I went to Salisbury to pick up my new trailor for my buggy, Tramper. And today, I tried it out with a trip around Nagshead. It held the road and it went very well.
At Nagshead, it wasn't very good, I couldn't find anything to photograph except the Oak.

Bluebells

Our forest is full of them. It will last about two weeks and then they die, until next year.

Wednesday 7 May 2008

Whitethroat

I went up to Mosely Green, (The Rising Sun) with my daughter. And we were having a pint and a meal, what do you think it was, we heard the Cuckoo.

Broad-bodied Chaser at The Marshes, Lydney

I met Brian Thomas, the guy who owns a "Tramper", all-terrain buggy for the disabled. We now have two the same, though his is younger than mine. He also shared in making of Deanbirders website. We went down onto The Marshes, which is the name that was given to it before they built a barrier to stop the River Severn. This is a lovely place with the wildlife in abundance. It was the first dragonfly of the season.

Marsh Tit at Cannop Ponds

It was a lousy day, not much happening. Cannop Ponds again! I have another lens that has gone and broke, it was not my fault. Its only 3 months since I had it, and now it doesn't work at all. Still, it should be under warranty!

Yahna's birthday

This is Yahna, my beautiful daughter. She was 19 years “young” today. You might not like her fathers’ ugly mug, but it shows how it’s wonderful she is. Well, I think so! Happy birthday Yahna xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Speckled Wood taken in Lydney

There was I, happily scootering along, when there was this butterfly, the first time I've seen it this year.
